Many methods have been used to synthesize hydrogels, such as thermal polymerization, photopolymerization and in situ polymerization. Among these methods, radiation-induced crosslinking is one of the most environment-friendly, fast and effective methods to prepare hydrogel structure, since in can be performed without chemical additives like radical initiators and catalysts. In addition, the base materials can be cross-linked in both a liquid state and a solid state, and can be reacted even at a low temperature. Furthermore, here in this technique, gel formation and sterilization occur simultaneously. It is easy, cost effective technique to regulate the crosslinking density and swelling of the hydrogel. In this study, we fabricated a ionic electroactive hydrogels using gamma-ray irradiation method. The morphology, gel fraction, swelling ratio, mechanical strength and electro-responsive property of hydrogels were investigated. |
