A New Paradigm in Materials Design: Self-Healing - Healing Agent Candidates |
초록 |
Synthetic self-healing materials represent a new paradigm in the design of polymer for composites and coatings. Self-healing is accomplished by incorporating a microencapsulated healing agent and a catalytic trigger within a thermosetting matrix. ENB (5-ethylidene-2-norbornene) has been investigated to be a potential self-healing agent candidate due to its rapid polymerization at lower Grubbs catalyst levels comparing to DCPD (dicyclopentadiene) by both DMA (dynamic mechanical analysis) and DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) tests. A more simulative condition of healing agent in the real polymeric composite was applied for preparing samples by coating the plate with different thermosetting systems embedded Grubbs’s catalyst, so does the examine of survival of Grubbs’ catalyst. Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of healing agents were studied and developed. Our laboratory synthesized two cross-linking agents to meet practical requirements for mixing with ENB. |
