Multi-layered Nanofibrous Scaffold by Spontaneous One-step Electrospinning for Biomedical Applications |

In the field of tissue engineering, electrospun scaffolds are generally used for mimicking natural ECM structures. Conventional electrospinning method fabricates the two-dimensional sheet-like scaffolds and this structure has several limitations including limited cellular infiltrations. Here, the novel technique was established to fabricate three-dimensional and multi-layered structures that can be used to mimic the patterns of natural ECM structures. Simple process which is mixing any salts in polymer solution before the electrospinning process can induce the self-assembled multi-layered structures. This advanced technique demonstrated probable as an efficient drug delivery system with rapid drug absorption rate and sustained release on the target site by using adeno-associated viral vector. In addition, physical guidance of multi-layered structures can create the layered cellular distribution in vivo. This platform technology covers variety applications of tissue engineering. |
