TiO2 fibers were successfully prepared using ACF as template material. Their photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the photodecomposition of toluene. They resulted from morphological change showed much higher photocatalytic activity than the commercial TiO2 (Degussa P-25) powder. Such activity difference was discussed in terms of characterization by FE-SEM, TG / DTA, XRD, Raman, EDX, BET, UV-Vis and XPS analysis. TiO2 fibers showed the highest efficiency when they were synthesized from Ti(SO4)2 precursor and calcined at 500℃. It was due to high surface area, well crystallized anatase phase and acid sites caused by sulfate ions. In this case, the use of ACF made them possible for TiO2 fibers to be produced and greatly promoted the formation of TiO2 phase in more mild condition. Also, we could know that it was positive to photocatalytic decomposition of toluene. |
