Titania is an excellent candidate as a photocatalyst due to its stability and redox power. In order to enhance the photocatyltic efficiency of titania, there have been a number of studies about mesoporous titania that has a large surface area, a high pore volume. Among the various types of mesoporous titania, mesoporous titania fibers have been investigated intensively since they have high surface-to-volume ratio and unique properties. Generally, mesoporous titania fibers have been synthesized by using hard templates such as mesoporous silica and AAO, but these syntheses would require complex and high-cost process. In this research, we have fabricated mesoporous titania fibers using the electrospinning method. This method does not used any hard template and is simple and versatile to prepare ultrathin fibers. The photocatalytic effect of the prepared samples were determined from the photodecomposition performance of aqueous methylene blue solution under UV irradiation. |
