Lyotropic Liquid-Crystalline Property and Optical Anisotropy of Disubstituted Acetylene Polymers in Film and Electrospun Fiber |
초록 |
To accomplish uniaxial alignment of polymer chain in the film and fiber, it should be one of the most promising methods to add liquid crystalline (LC) nature to individual polymer chains and then apply external force such as shear stress or an electric or magnetic field to the LC state. Diphenylacetylene polymer derivatives have been recognized as intensively emissive materials because of effective exciton confinement on the main chain due to the steric hindrance and/or intramolecular electron interaction of such bulky aromatic substituents as phenyl ring. Also, the polymer backbones are expected to be rigid due to severely restricted rotation by the bulky side groups. The chain stiffness may be closely correlated to a lyotropic liquid crystallinity. Herein we found that these polymers exist as LC in concentrated organic solvents, and show strongly polarized absorption and fluorescence in the sheared film and electrospun fiber. |
