In Vitro Evaluation of Liver Decellularized Extracellular Matrix and Polysaccharides Scaffold as a Hemostatic Agent |

Chitosan is well-known for its effective hemostatic properties while gelatin is a favorable biomaterial for fabricating soften and spongy formation. The purpose of this study was to examine the hemostatic properties of porous scaffold made up of chitosan/gelatin and decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) powder obtained from porcine liver. Scaffold was fabricated under the principle of acid solubilization of decellularized extracellular matrix. Physico-mechanical characterization were performed. Results showed that the triumphal output in terms of intrinsic blood clotting was claimed in-vitro by chitosan/gelatin with dECM. Furthermore, cell toxicity evaluation with L929 cell line showed that both chitosan/gelatin and chitosan/gelatin with dECM have no obviously toxic. Thus, chitosan/gelatin with dECM scaffold can be observed as a potential absorbable hemostatic material in the prevention of hemorrhage diseases or expected bleedings in surgeries. |
