제목 Efficient synthesis and characterization of acylated chitosan derivatives
초록 Acylation of chitosan is one of the methods to improve its solubility. In this study a series of chitosan acyl derivatives viz: formate, acetate, propionate, butyrate and valerate were synthesized using carboxylic acids and Trifluoroacetic anhydride. Prepared chitosan esters were characterized using FT-IR and 1H NMR and their thermal property and morphology were analyzed using, differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy respectively. The results showed that combining carboxylic acid(s) with chitosan provides a new copolymer(s) with improved physical properties including solubility.
