1,1-Diamino-2,2-dinitroethylene (DADNE) having a strong intermolecular hydrogen bonding has now gradually exploring the insensitive ammunitions. Hydrogen-bonding formed among 3-D planar structures caused the indigenous insensitivity of DADNE than other secondary explosives. Several attempts were reported to trim DADNE particles having satisfyingly apparent shape. However, the underlying mechanism of the particle formation has not well known. In this study, we measured the metastable zone width and the induction time of the DADNE in mixtures of N,N-dimethylacetamide(DMA)-H2O at various cooling rates and saturation temperatures. We deduced the nucleation and growth mechanism of DADNE using Sangwal's approach. In conclusion, the crystallization of DADNE was well described by the 2D nucleation-mediated growth model at nucleation temperatures from 343 to 347 K. |
