Feasibility of Hydrotalcite-Supported MgO-NaNO3 with Improved Stability and Capacity for Pre-Combustion CO2 Capture |

In this study, commercially available hydrotalcites with different MgO:Al2O3 weight ratios (30:70 and 70:30) were used to improve the performance of MgO-NaNO3 sorbents. Cyclic tests revealed that the 30:70 hydrotalcite-supported sorbent attained higher and stable sorption performance as compared to MgO-NaNO3 under multiple cycles, reaching a stable capacity of 30.92 wt% or 37.95% MgO conversion. The 30:70 sample also showed high capture performance under a modified 15% CO2 sorption cyclic test with partial desorption, achieving an average capacity of 20.05 wt% or 22.95% MgO conversion.
