Dual-mode Triboelectric Nanogenerator Based on Wrinkled Structures |

As one of the energy harvesting, triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) has been developed due to low fabrication cost and high performance. Here, we present a dual-mode TENG with hierarchically designed wrinkle patterns composed of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) and silver electrode layers. Compared with TENG devices with a single operation mode, our device can be applied to dual operation mode that uses vertical contact-separation mode and contact-sliding mode, exhibiting a high output voltage and current. To gain high power density, a wrinkle pattern was prepared through ultraviolet (UV)/ozone surface treatment. The working principles of dual-mode TENG and the relationships between its output performance and the various types of mechanical motions were systematically studied. Our dual-mode TENG is a promising approach in the development of stretchable TENG for the potential applications including wearable devices and stretchable electronics. |
