Functional Polyacetylene Derivatives via the Catalyst-Free Polymerization of 2-Ethynylpyridine using Bromomethyl Coumarins |

A new class of ionic functional polyacetylenes has been synthesized via the catalyst-free polymerization of ethynylpyridines by the substituted functional halides. Here, we prepared a new ionic polyacetylene with coumarin moieties via the in-situ uncatalyzed polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine by bromomethyl coumarin derivatives. The resulting polymers were completely soluble in such organic solvents as DMF, NMP, and DMSO, etc. The kinetics of the redox process of these ionic polymers were found to be controlled by the reactant diffusion process from the experiment of the current oxidation density of polymer versus the scan rate. |
