Amphiphilic dendritic molecules having core-shell structures exhibit the characteristics of unimolecular micelles. The use of dendrimers as unimolecular micelles was proposed by Newkome, and micellar behavior has been demonstrated by incorporating organic and inorganic molecules into dendritic macromolecules. In all the reported cases, unimolecular dendritic micelles are regarded as a dendritic box, consisting a core-shell type structure. In this study, we synthesized amphiphilic hyperbranched polymers with a core-shell architecture, which have carboxylic or sulfonic acid groups in the core and hydrophobic alkyl chains at outer corona, and investigated the effect of core polarity on encapsulation behavior of the polymers. |
