Micro- (2-5 μm) and nanocontainers (50-110 nm) on the basis of polysaccharides (chitosan, alginates, pectins) suitable for prolonged drug action were fabricated. They are biocompatible, non-toxic, and afford effective local concentration of anticancer drugs: imatinib and doxorubic. The entrapment efficiency of imatinib into the microcapsules is 70-90%. The size of the polysaccharide NPs can be controlled by changing the polymer concentration in the reaction mixture, its molecular weight, pH, ionic strength, and also the presence of the stabilizer. The release kinetics of entrapped biologically active substances in solutions, simulating the physiological environment of the human body, was investigated. |
