The stable poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) [P(S-co-DVB)] spherical microspheres with narrow size distribution were prepared in acetone/water mixture in the presence of initiator, 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethyl valeronitrile) (V-65) and various co-initiators in the precipitation polymerization. The coinitiators used were potassium peroxodisulfate (KPS), ammonium peroxodisulfate (APS) and sodium peroxodisulfate (NaPS).The optimum ratios of acetone to water and the compositions of co-initiatorsfor the formation of narrow size distribution of P(S-co-DVB)were 49:11 (g/g), and 9:1 (g/g) for V-65 to KPS, 11:1 for V-65 to APS and 6:1 for V-65 to NaPS, respectively. |
