제목 Layer-by-Layer Liposomal Coating of Coronary Stents for Controlled Release of Nitric Oxide
초록 Recently significant evolution in coronary stents used in percutaneous coronary intervention has taken place. Unfortunately, restenosis & late thrombosis remained a problem, despite the development of drug eluting stent. Previously researchers discovered that nitric oxide possesses anti-restenotic effects through maintaining healthy vasculature. In this study, three main coating techniques, direct coating on metal surface, direct coating on polymer layer, and layer-by-layer coating technique, were used to try reaching an optimum coating condition for liposome containing DETA NONOate. LBL coating accomplished a sustained release of NO for 5 days with two drug release bursts when compared to the other two coating techniques. Due to sustained release of NO, endothelial cells (ECs) were maintained for about 5 days. animal study showed significant differences in the lumen area, in the neointimal area and the percent area stenosis when compared to the bare metal stent (BMS) test group.
