Studies on measuring surface energetics and work of adhesion of carbon fibers by various fiber packing methods based on modified Washburn method |
초록 |
In this work, the influence of various cell packing methods on measuring surface energetics and work of adhesion of carbon fiber were studied. The carbon fibers were chopped to various lengths and subsequently packed into sample cell in an aligned manner. According to the packing methods, the capillary constant showed dynamic results with different error ranges. It was found that the optimal size in the range of 1~2 inch of carbon fibers shows well reliability of capillary constant using the modified Washburn equation. It was also found that the uni-directionally packed samples expectedly showed reliable results. These results indicate that optimal packing in the sample cell determine reliable measuring of surface energetics of carbon fiber in the modified Washburn methods. |
