제목 | A study on the particle shape of HMX through cooling crystallization in a binary solvent |
초록 | HMX was produced as a by-product in the RDX synthesis process, and was later utilized and developed as a high explosive. HMX has α, β, γ, and δ-forms with four different crystal structures. Among them, we performed the recrystallization process using β-HMX, which has the highest density. In the solvent-nonsolvent two-component solvent, the shape of the crystal recovered through cooling crystallization was changed according to the type of the nonsolvent. Therefore, in the solvent-nonsolvent binary system, the crystal form of HMX according to the type of nonsolvent was observed. Propylene carbonate was used as a solvent, and Ethyl alcohol and Acetone were used as nonsolvent. The crystallization method was cooling crystallization. HMX recrystal recovered from the Propylene carbonate-water system was obtained in a twin form. In contrast, HMX recrystal recovered from Propylene-Ethyl alcohol and Acetone systems was not obtained in a twin form, and was obtained in a better crystal form. |
