The gas barrier properties of hardcoat films containing epoxy resin |

Development of flexible and transparent displays is required to create a new demand for displays. Polymer substrates used in flexible display are susceptible to moisture and oxygen, so it is necessary to prevent gas permeation through the formation of a special coating layer. In this study, the organic layers composed of UV/thermal curable materials were formed on PET substrate and various behaviors related gas barrier properties were examined. Reactive monomers like 1,6- hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA), pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA) and six functional groups dipentaerytritol hexaacrylate (DPHA) were used as a UV curable components. Epoxy resins were added to improve crosslink densities and disadvantages of UV curable resin like shrinkages. Various analytical methods such as SEM, FT-IR, water contact angle, water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) were adapted to analyze gas barrier properties and microstructure. |
