Tamsulosin(TS) is used in the treatment of difficult urination, a common symptom of enlarged prostate. In this study, TS was used as model drugs for the complex formulation as triple layer. TS extended layer was prepared as a wet granulation method to delay the solubility and LF immediate layer was prepared by physical mixture. Characterizations of the prepared wet granulation and physical mixture were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), x-ray diffractometer (XRD) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The in vitro drug release behavior of were also evaluated in intestinal juice (pH 6.8). This study suggests the complex formulation with the extended release layer and the immediate release layer can be suitable design for controlled release of TS.
