제목 Preparation of Polyaniline-Coated Polystyrene Nanoparticles for the Sorption of Silver Ions on Aqueous Phase
초록 Polystyrene/polyaniline (PS/PANI) beads with an average diameter of approximately 270 nm were prepared from styrene and divinylbenzene via emulsion polymerization and subsequent oxidative polymerization of aniline. The adsorption behaviors of the polymer particles were studied at various pH values, concentrations and time intervals. The core/shell type polymer beads having –NH- groups on their surface exhibited high adsorption and redox capacity up to more than 95% removal toward silver ions in aqueous phases. The FE-SEM images and XRD data indicated that the silver ions are reduced to form silver nanoparticles on the polymer beads. The XPS data also showed that about 30% of silver ions were converted to silver nanoparticles on the polymer surface. Based on our current experimental results, the PAN/PS nanoparticles seem to be one of the best sorbents toward silver ions in aqueous phase, due to their low cost, reusability, and high adsorption capacity.
