Effect of Temperature on Structure and Mechanical Properties of AA2014 Al Alloys |

Metal foams have received great attention in structural application due to their ultra-light weight and other attractive mechanical characteristics such as high specific strength, impact energy absorption, damping capacity and sound absorption capability. A widely used procedure for Al alloys is melt foaming. AA2014 alloy is one of the high-strength Al alloys employed. However, the study of AA2014 metal foam is still a blank. As we known, temperature is one of the key factors for structure and mechanical properties of foam metal. In this paper, AA2014 metal foams were prepared at different foaming temperatures by using melt foaming method, and the porosity, pore size and distribution, compressive and hardness of the foams were also investigated. |
