Nanostructures with Helical Sense in the Self-assembly of Chiral Block Copolymers |
초록 |
Chirality driven microphase-separated morphology with helical sense such as PLLA nanohelices hexagonally packed in PS matrix was obtained from the self-assembly of chiral diblock copolymers, poly(styrene)-b-poly(L-lactide). Moreover, hexagonally packed core-shell cylinder structure phase was found in PS-PLLA with PLLA-rich fractions. The observed core-shell cylinder microstructure is the consequence of chirality driven twisting and bending origins from bilayered microstructure through the scrolling of helical microdomains. Now, the analyses of block copolymer thermodynamics should be complicated by the chiral entities of constituted components. Orderly packed nanohelical channels and tubular nanostructure can be obtained after hydrolysis of PLLA, and this approach for nanostructures provide new opportunities for block copolymer applications in the fields of nano-sciences. Also, the nanohelices in bulk are able to transfer into crystalline nanohelices and crystalline cylinders by crystallization or shearing. As a result, the hexagonally packed nanohelical structure of the PLLA in the PS matrix of chiral PS-PLLA block copolymers appears as spring-like behavior in response to the applied stimulations. Consequently, switchable nanohelices from chiral block copolymers can be manipulated by interplay of vitrification, crystallization and microphase separation as well as shearing. |
