Fabrication of TCP coated t-ZrO2 scaffolds and their in-vitro study |

Porous t-ZrO2 scaffold was fabricated by replica method using polyurethane foam coated with a t-ZrO2 suspension. TCP coated t-ZrO2 scaffold was fabricated by dipping of the t-ZrO2 scaffold into HAp slurry. Sintering temperature was carried-out at 1500oC to obtain TCP phase from HAp phase. The fabricated scaffolds showed excellent interconnected pores in a range of about 300 – 700 μm in diameter. The thickness of TCP coating layer was about 7 – 10 μm and homogeneously dispersed on the surface of t-ZrO2 scaffold. Material properties of TCP coated t-ZrO2 scaffold such as relative density, compressive strength and elastic modulus were also investigated. In addition, the biocompatibility of the fabricated scaffols was evaluated using human MG-63 osteoblast and raw 264.7 osteoclast cells in-vitro. |
