Synthesis of High Response Chemical Sensor bases on Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes for Environmental Monitoring Application |

In this study, a chemical sensor bases on single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is developed. For sensor fabrication, SWNTs are grown directly on the comb-type interdigital electrodes by arc discharge method. The effects of heat and Ethanol treatment on the electrical and chemical sensing properties of CNT-based sensor are studied. The results show that SWNTs sensor can detect the concentration of NH3 and NO down to ppm level at room temperature. As-synthesized SWNTs show p-type semiconductor whereas the ethanol and heat treated SWNTs show metallic behaviors. The sensor exhibits fast response, high sensitivity and stability at room temperature. |
