Salvia miltiorrhiza bunge, a wellknown traditional Chinese herbal drug, has been used extensively for treatment of various diseases, such as coronary heart disease, hepatitis, chronic renal failure, cardiodynia, myocardial infarction, and trauma with blood stasis. The main biological active ingredients in root of Salvia miltiorrhiza bunge include abietane-type diterpene such as Tanshinone IIA. A sample pretreatment procedure including extraction with various extractants (methanol, ethanol, and ethyl acetate) were performed for the isolation of Tanshinone IIA. The effectiveness of the PR-HPLC separation was tested using the water-methanol eluents. |
