제목 Relationship Between Glass compositions and Phosphor Types for LED Packages
초록 Glass materials have attracted much attention as encapsulants for high power light emitting diode to improve thermal, chemical and optical properties. However, the implementation of the phosphor in glass and interaction between the glass matrix and phosphor during the sintering has been rarely considered. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of various glass compositions on the reaction at interface between glass and phosphors. The various glass compositions based on the basic SiO2-B2O3-ZnO glass system and three types of phosphors such as Y3Al5O12:Ce3+, Sr2SiO4:Eu2+ and CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ were mixed using tubular shaker mixer and sintered at various sintering conditions for the preparation of glass-phosphor composites. The sintering behavior of the composites was studied using hot stage microscopy. Surface morphology after sintering and elemental analysis of the composition at interface was investigated by SEM and EDS analysis, respectively. The sintering behavior of the composites was changed by the glass compositions and phosphor types above the softening temperature. The difference of the sintering behavior of the composites is closely related with mass transfer at the interface between the glasses and the phosphors. The ion diffusions and reactions between the glasses and the phosphors were strongly influenced by the elements of the glass compositions. The creation of the reaction layer at the interface and ions of the YAG phosphor diffusion from the phosphor to the glass were observed at above the softening temperature of the composite. The thickness of the reaction layer and ion diffusion at the boundary layer of phosphor can minimizes on varying glass compositions based on the glass types.
