Indium phosphide (InP) quantum dots (QDs) are an alternative to cadmium based QDs, can have outstanding luminescent properties and wide color gamut. Trimethylsilyl phosphine (TMSP) is most commonly used P precursor for the synthesis of InP QDs. However, it is expensive, pyrophoric, and has a strong reactivity, making it difficult to control the size of a small quantum dot synthesis. Aminophosphine, has a lower reactivity than TMSP and can easily control the size of the QDs. We synthesized blue emitting InP QDs through Magic sized clusters with aminophosphine chemistry. Aminophosphine and halide source induced halide-amine passivated Magic Sized Clusters(MSCs). With as-synthesized MSCs, we introduced Zinc Sulfide heterostructure shell. Throughout the formation of the shell, halide-amine passivation stabilized the MSCs and allowed the size of NCs to be maintained. The InP/ZnS QDs have PL peak at 454 nm with 45% PL QY. |
