Studies on the controlling of microstructural and morphological properties of ZnO nanorods prepared by hydrothermal method |

This study shows the effect of seed layers on the structural and optical properties of ZnO nanorods. ZnO nanorods thin films were prepared on ZnO seed layer glass substrates by hydrothermal synthesis technique using aqueous solution containing zinc nitrate hexahydrate, different seed layer thickness at 90 °C for 2 hours. The effects of different seed layer thickness on the microstructure, morphology, structural, optical, and electrical properties of thin films were investigated. In this study, we attempted to control the morphology of ZnO nanorod thin films by adjusting the different seed layer thickness of substrates. SEM images clearly reveal that ZnO nanorods were successfully grown on both kinds of seed layers. X-ray diffraction studies showed that ZnO thin films were grown as a polycrystalline wurtzite hexagonal phase with a c-axis preferred, out-of-plane orientation and without secondary phases regardless of seed layer thickness. Throughout this study, We have controlled the size, Shape, and crystalline structure of the ZnO nanorods for the improvement of the photoelectrical properties. |
