Acetic acid gas can cause various disease when exposed to human body. Generally, activated carbon fibers (ACFs) are used as an adsorbent for removing acetic acid gas. Oxygen functional group on ACFs surface via oxygen plamsa (OP) treatment with different oxygen flow rate (20, 40, 60 sccm). The introduced oxygen functional groups were increased with increase of oxygen flow rate, and that is up to 36% on the ACFs surface. Although the oxygen content dramatically increased via OP treatment, the specific surface area of the OP treated ACFs was slightly reduced as 7% compared to that of the pristine ACFs. Also, the adsorption performance on acetic acid gas of the OP treated ACFs was enhanced, and it was up to 43% compared to that of the pristine ACFs. Thus, the OP treatment is a feasible and promising method to greatly improve the acetic acid removal performance. |
