In this study, polyurethane-acrylic hybrid materials were prepared and the effects of synthesis process and composition were investigated. For imparting hydrophilicity on polyurethane prepolymer, 2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl) propionic acid was added to the polyurethane prepolymer with methyl methacylate and n-butyl acrylate as diluting agent. After neutralization by triethylamine, the prepolymer mixture was dispersed in the water phase with stable droplets and chain extension was carried out by In-situ polymerization. To investigate influence of different acrylic monomer contents, polyurethane-acrylic hybrid materials with IPN structure were prepared from various polyurethane/acrylate monomer contents. Polyurethane grafted acrylic hybrid material was also synthesized by addition of 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate as functional monomers in order to investigate effects of functional monomers on the structure and properties. |
