A lot of investigations have been made for cellulose fibers to improve the physical properties. Preparation of cellulose /monohydrate of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) solutions were made by melting the linter-based cellulose in which the weight average degree of polymerization is around 1,000 in NMMO monohydrate. In order to increase the thermal stability of the solution, n-propyl gallate (PG) was added. It was investigated the effects of aging on the characteristic rheological responses of cellulose/monohydrate of NMMO solutions. Aging was conducted for the solutions for up to 3 days. After aging, it was found that the rheological responses of the cellulose/monohydrate of NMMO solutions were little affected by the storage time and pre-shearing at the measuring temperature of 120oC. That is, it showed little aging effect at the measuring temperature of 120oC. It was considered that the rheological responses were correlated with the microstructure of these solutions during aging. |
