제목 | Oxidative carbonylation of higher alcohols to produce various dialkyl carbonates over Se |
초록 | Dialkyl carbonates (DACs) have attracted intensive attention due to their environmentally benign characteristics as green reagents as well as wide range of applications such as electrolyte solvents for Li-ion battery. DACs have been prepared via the phosgenation of corresponding alcohols, however, this process possesses harmful effect to the environment due to using toxic phosgene. To end this, several alternative processes have been developed, and we studied oxidative carbonylation of C2-C4 alcohols as well as methanol using a catalytic system consisting of Se and DMAP to produce more than 40% yield of C3-C9 DACs under mild conditions. Notably, oxidative carbonylation of 2-methoxyethanol (MEG, C3-alcohol) afforded bis(2-methoxyethyl)carbonate (BMEC, C7-DAC) with 57.6% yield under this catalytic system. A possible mechanism were thoroughly investigated by in situ ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, NMR, and DFT calculations. |
