Various solvent extractants have been used to separate precious metals from acid solutions by solvent extraction processes. However, these processes have some drawbacks such as the low reuse efficiency and loss of solvent extractants. Therefore, to overcome these drawbacks, we developed Alamine-336-impregnated alginate capsule (Alamine-336-AC) as a sorbent. The Alamine-336-AC was prepared at different ratios of Alamine-336 and the mixture of 1% CaCl2 and 2.5% carboxymethyl cellulose. Microscope images of Alamine-336-AC showed that Alamine-336 was well dispersed in the capsule. The Alamine-336-AC exhibited high sorption capacities for Au(III), Pt(IV) and Pd(II) in single-metal solutions, while it showed gold selective sorption in a multi-metal solution. |
