Conducting polymers like polypyrrole, polythiophene and polyaniline can be electrochemically oxidized and reduced in a continuous and reversible way. Their changes in volume are linked to the movement of ions and solvent inside and outside the conducting polymer. In this work, we have investigated the construction of a new solid state CP actuator, fully polymeric, based on two polypyrrole(PPy) film electrodes and a solid polymer electrolyte(SPE), polyurethane/Mg(ClO4)2. PPy was grown electrochemically on stainless steel electrode with sodium perchlorate(NaClO4) as dopant. Polyurethanes(PUs) were synthesized using a two-step method based on polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) with different molecular weighs 1001, 1809, and 3205. The properties of SPE were measured by using fourier thansform-infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), alternative current(AC) impedance measurements, differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). |
