Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been known as the most effective tool for cancer therapy. However, PDT has several limitations by the solubility of photosensitizer in D.I water and absence of targeting ability to cancer. As a part of enhancing PDT, we designed and developed a cancer microenvironment responsive synthetic photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy (CMR-PS). CMR-PS was synthesized via Ring opening polymerization and aminolysis. The CMR-PS is water soluble, cancer micro-environment recognizable, and reversed charge of CMR-PS in tumor. In detail, CMR-PS’s charge is converted from negative to positive one at tumor microenvironment. This property induced the enhanced cellular uptake and then effected cancer cell cytotoxicity. Therefore, we conclude that CMR-PS has a great potential on a next generation photosensitizer. |
