Hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN) monolayer is an atomically thin 2D crystal and has analogous chemical and mechanical properties of graphene. Because of superior proton permeability and conductivity of the hBN monolayer, composite membranes of the hBN monolayer and Nafion are regarded as promising proton conducting materials for fuel cells and electrolysis application. For scalable production of the composite membranes, transfer of the CVD-grown hBN monolayer onto Nafion is a very important process. In this study, the hBN/Nafion composites were prepared by hot pressing the Nafion with CVD-grown hBN monolayer on Cu foil, followed by etching the Cu foil. The hot pressing temperaures and pressures were varied to find optimal fabrication condition. The obtained membranes were analyzed by using XPS, AFM and SEM to confirm the successful transfer of the hBN onto Nafion. Additionally, impedence analysis was carried out to measure proton conductivity of the composite membrane. |
