제목 | Glycolic Acid Production in Escherichia coli through the Synergy of L-Arabinose and D-Xylose Metabolic Pathways |
초록 | Microbial conversion of C5 sugars to target products is earning momentum as alternative substrates to C6 sugars. In this study, Escherichia coli was engineered to utilize different metabolic pathways responsible for the assimilation of D-xylose and L-arabinose towards glycolic acid (GA) formation. Different L-arabinose metabolic pathways for GA production were first assessed and the most efficient was synergized with the Dahms pathway to produce GA from D-xylose and L-arabinose. Overall, this study is the first to screen for appropriate L-arabinose pathway that explores the synergy between L-arabinose pathway and Dahms pathway for GA production.
