Recently, the preparations of asymmetric membranes, composed of hexagonally-ordered nanopores on the surface and disordered sponge-like layer, have been extensively studied by NIPS of PS-b-P2VP copolymers. However, in most cases, the preparation of asymmetric membranes was relied on very delicate experimental condition, and the resulting membranes were suffered from weak mechanical properties. Here, we address these issues by introducing plasticizer to the copolymers and conducting NIPS at elevated temperature. We found that the high temperature NIPS enabled to produce symmetric membranes without sponge-like structures, which resulted in uniform nanopore formation throughout the membrane. In addition, since the surface of nanopores was composed of P2VP that can be coordinated by HAuCl4, a precursor of Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), we further synthesized AuNPs inside the membrane. We found the resulting composite had chemical activity to catalyze a model chemical reaction. |
