Diaphragm with improved gas barrier properties for alkaline water electrolysis |
초록 |
Alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) is suitable for mass production of hydrogen owing to the low installation cost resulting from the absence of precious metal catalyst. Zirfon, a commercial porous membrane for AWE, has insufficient gas barrier property, demanding a need for the development of a large-area porous membrane with high ionic conductivity and low hydrogen permeability. In this study, we developed a diaphragm prepared from polysulfone(PSU)-ionic polymer blend and zirconia nanoparticles by non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) method. The resulting diaphragm exhibited higher gas barrier properties and lower membrane resistance than a diaphragm based on PSU alone. Finally, the diaphragm with the optimized composition showed about 50% higher current density than Zirfon in 1.825V. |
