The display industry has been rapidly developed for an information-oriented society based on the digital technology. Many studies on component materials in display are in progress to replace commercial materials with innovated materials for low cost and high quality of products. In spite of poor chemical durability and hydration of these glasses, the phosphate based glass composition has been recently in the limelight for application to electronic devices compared to other glass system because of low melting temperature, ultraviolet transmission, thermal expansion coefficients and an eco-friendly material. In this study, the chemical durability of a P2O5-ZnO-B2O3 glass system was mainly investigated to apply on barrier-ribs in PDP using inductive coupled plasma-mss spectrometer, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy and field emission-scanning electron microscope. The weight loss of samples in 90℃ D.I. H2O and pH change of phosphate based glass were measured. Our results present the mechanism of the solubility behavior of phosphate glasses. |
