In this study, we analyzed the effect of surface functionality of boehmite nanofibers on mechnical and thermal properties of basalt fibers/epoxy composites. The surface properties of the boehmite nanofibers were determined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The mechanical properties of the composites were assessed by critical stress intensity factor (KIC), fracture energy (GIC), and impact strength. The thermal stability of the composites were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It was found that the chemical treatments of boehmite nanofibers were influenced on the mechanical and thermal properties of the composites. |
