Lithium ion batteries (LIBs) are one of the most representative secondary battery systems because of their high operating voltage and energy density. However, graphite, the most widely used anode material for LIB, is not suitable for advanced mobile electronic and electric vehicles due to its low specific capacity. In this study, cubic-structured Ga2Te3 was synthesized using a simple thermal synthesis method and investigated for its performance as a LIB anode. Also, The reaction mechanism of Ga2Te3 anode with Li ions has been clearly investigated using various ex situ analytic technologues. In addition, two types of Ga2Te3-based composites were prepared by different synthesis routes. These composites exhibited excellent electrochemical performance such as high volumetric capacity, superior cycling stability and fast rate capability. |
