제목 Palladium Nanosheet Films on Elastomer Substrate for Stretchable Hydrogen Gas Sensors
초록 It was demonstrated that palladium (Pd) nanosheet films on a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate could work as stretchable hydrogen sensors. To fabricate Pd nanosheets, a Pd thin film on PDMS first underwent two-step biaxial stretching, which generated intersecting nanocracks in the Pd thin film. Then, the cracked Pd film on PDMS was immersed into a chemical bath to delaminate PDMS substrate. The average size of Pd nanosheets was inversely proportional to applied strain, while it was proportional to Pd film thickness. Simple techniques of filtering and transferring Pd nanosheets sequentially were used to relocate Pd nanosheets on another PDMS substrate. The stretchable hydrogen sensors responded to hydrogen gas in a negative manner, where their resistances went down in the presence of hydrogen gas. This may be attributed to the increase of contact area between neighboring Pd sheets due to the Pd volume expansion caused by hydrogen adsorption. The stretchable sensors turned out to work even under a 30% strain. This is the first demonstration that hydrogen sensors can bear large strains.
