Advanced nano-materials for wearable sensor applications |

Recently, various sensor applications based on the advanced nano-materials have been extensively investigated by employing the suitable sensing materials combined with new emerging device architectures. Among them, high-performance wearable bio-sensors which can be integrated with internet of things platforms have been reported to apply them directly onto human. In this presentation, we will demonstrate highly sensitive wearable glucose sensor system based on 2 dimensional carbon nanotube (CNT) random networks. Solution-processable carbon-based nanocomposites were utilized for wearable glucose sensors on the flexible media with high sensitivity. We will also demonstrate highly sensitive and selective gas sensors based on functionalized CNT random networks for detection of nitric oxide (NO) down to ppb-level operating at room temperature. A careful functionalization of CNT random networks with molecular amine groups improved the sensing performance, exhibiting a response of 50%, and a theoretical detection limit of 0.2 ppb. We believe that this work can open-up new paths for advanced nano-materials towards the promising sensor applications in wearable converging technologies.
