We report the synthesis of CO2-soluble poly(vinyl ester) hydrocarbon copolymers in a controlled way via RAFT technique. A particular type of RAFT agent, Xanthate, has been introduced to enable the controlled synthesis of a series of homopolymers and copolymers of vinyl acetate (VAc), vinyl butyrate (VB) and vinyl octanoate (VO) having specifically targeted molecular weights and different composition ratios. The stabilizing ability of the poly(vinyl ester) hydrocarbon copolymers was then tested in a series of dispersion polymerizations of N-vinyl pyrrolidone (N-VP) insupercritical CO2. |
