In order to overcome the disposal problem of commodity plastics used in convenient and high costs of biodegradable polymers, environmentally friendly blends of modify synthesized seaweed pulp and hydrophilic poly(vinyl alcohol)polymers were prepared and their properties were investigated. seaweed pulp/PVA blends with various weight ratios were prepared using a solution blending system with protic and aprotic polar solvents as the solvent. IR, DSC, SEM spectroscopy. and soil burial composting test were respective used to investigate the miscibility, mechanical properties, thermal properties, and biodegradable properties. From these analyses, it was discovered that seaweed pulp/PVA blends showed a unique Tm, Tg value that agreed well with the theoretical value calculated from Fox equation. |
