Synthesis and characterization of bioactive glass microspheres |
초록 |
Bioactive ceramics are emerging as an important bio-material that finds application in the clinical field for drug delivery, filling bone defects, dental applications etc.But the recent trend in the bioactive ceramics is in the development of porous wall bioactive glass microspheres with tailored pores that are novel potential nanocarriers for biomedical applications. In this paper the authors have prepared bioactive glass microspheres using sol-gel process.Desired quantity of Tetra Ethyl Ortho Silicate (TEOS) in ethanol and Calcium nitrate in water were mixed at pH 1-2.It was further neutralized using ammonium dibasic phosphate and polyethylene glycol. The pH was adjusted to 9-11 and the whole mixture after aging for 48 h, was centrifuged and freeze dried at -55oC for 2 h. The bioactive glass microspheres thus prepared was calcined at different temperatures. The characterization of the product samples was done using SEM, TEM, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy. |
