Assembling of modular biochip technologies can provide convenient and accurate diagnosis platform. In this talk, we present recent developments of microfluidic-based modular biochip technologies, with special emphasis on disposable plastic devices and film substrates and their biosensing applications. Furthermore, we overview common methods used in the fabrication of polymer microfluidic systems, including replica and injection molding. Also we describe different onchip operations implemented in a microfluidic format —such as the pumping and valving of fluid flow, the mixing of different reagents, and the separation and detection of different biochemical species. Finally, a few selected examples of biotechnological applications are also presented to illustrate both the utility of this technology and its potential for development in the near future. |
