제목 PVC/Bio-polyurethane Blends for Reduced Phthalate Migration
초록 Plasticized poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) is a widely used material due to its wide range of properties and low price. However recent concerns on endocrine disruption of phthalate derived plasticizers have led to various researches on alternative plasticizers. In this research bio-based polyurethane (BPU) was used as a barrier to reduce migration of endocrine disrupting dioctyl phthalate (DOP) in plasticized PVC. The BPU was synthesized with polycaprolactone diol, castor oil, 1,4-butanediol and 4,4-methylenediphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) by one step polymerization. BPU/PVC blend was melt compounded using internal mixer. The effect of BPU to plasticized PVC was evaluated using flexural and tensile modulus analysis, evaluated its thermal stability with thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and the plasticizer migration test was conducted.
